Graduation Speech for 2017 graduates by Chante Cronje
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to the annual graduation ceremony of 2017. For those of you who don’t know me, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Chante Cronje, former Chairperson of the Student Representative Council for the year of 2017.
I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome the directors, staff and lecturers of Prestige Academy, all parents and family members, my amazing SRC team of 2017, the new SRC for 2018, and last but not least, I would like to officially welcome all graduates of 2017.
This year spent, as being an ambassador of Prestige Academy, has been one of the most important and challenging yet exciting years of my life. If I have to compare myself to whom I was a few months ago, to who I have become today, I can’t, because they are two totally different people.
First and for most, I would like to thank the two directors, Mrs. Mostert and Mrs. Ciaglia for their continuous support and appraisal throughout the year when it came to the SRC. Not only have you never given up on us, you have shown us that everything in life is possible if you just believe, and for that we are truly grateful.
To Dr Hugo, the Rector of Prestige Academy: On behalf of my team and I, we would like to thank you for absolutely everything. From moulding us together as a team, to picking us up through the year when we felt like everything was just falling apart. You are someone we will never forget.
To Amelia Blom, the head of student affairs, our SRC mamma mia- with you, we don’t know where to start and we surely don’t know where to end. From day one you have believed in us and I think that was all we needed in order to succeed. I think one of the biggest lessons you have taught us is that the impossible is really possible. Your continuous love, guidance and support is what carried us through this year. Because of you, we are who we are today and for that we will forever remain grateful. Thank you for all the lovely memories, they will never be forgotten.
To the new SRC for 2018, I would like to wish you all the very best with your year ahead. I, without a doubt, know that you will all succeed and excel at everything you do. Never forget how hard you have worked to be where you are right now, you deserve this, never let anyone take that away from you. If you guys work as a team you will most certainly succeed in everything you do. So, continue to love and support each other.
Second last, I would like to ask that the Student Representative Council members of the year 2017 please stand. Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to ask that each and every one of you take a look around and notice who these fine young individuals are. I want you all to know that I am so very proud of each and every one of you and I would also like to let you all know that the amazing memories that I have gone through with you all will be carried in my heart forever and always. To my parents, fiancé and one of my best friends Bianca Finlay I would like to thank you for being my pillar of strength throughout the year. Thank you for picking me up when I felt like I had nothing left in me. Your love, support and advice will never be forgotten.
Not only was I given the opportunity to go on a life changing adventure with my fellow SRC members, where we were taught a lot of life lessons, but serving on the SRC was most probably one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I met my best friend and love of my life, Jaun Swanepoel, because of SRC and now we are happily engaged. The reason why I am sharing this with you this morning is because it just goes to show that you don’t know what life has in store for you, you just need to close your eyes and jump off that cliff and your hopes and dreams will be the wings that will keep you in the air and you will keep souring in the direction life takes you. If you believe in this, you will reach great heights in your life.
With this thought in mind, last but not least, to my friends and graduates of 2017. Today is your special day. I know you are all dressed up, ready to graduate and concur the world, but before you do that I would like to tell each and every one of you to take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go and are still going to go. May good luck be your friend in whatever you do and may trouble always be a stranger to you.
I want to leave you with this message:
The biggest adventure you can take is living the life of your dreams.
