EASTER EGG SPREE 2012

Each year Prestige Academy runs the ever popular ‘Easter Egg Drive’. This has become tradition at the Academy and our students go the extra mile to reach the set target Once again our students excelled by breaking the previous record by collecting 3000 eggs this year.

But involvement in outreach events means much more. Our students did more than just collecting Easter Eggs; they donated their time as well. Over a matter of 3 days, students, staff and management took to the streets to demonstrate their commitment to caring for others in the Easter spirit.

Part of the vision for this year is to reach out to various non-profit institutions. Easter Eggs were donated made to the following places: Bouncer Safe House, Alta Du Tiot, Ruyterwacht Senior Centrum, Ruyterwacht Primary School, Carel Du Toit, Straatwerk, as well as the Cancer, Heart, Surgery and Kidney Units at Tygerburg Hospital.

The participants feel that these events add an element of reality to the Outreach Project, because it goes beyond mere lip service.

Here are some of the students’ comments:

“This is an overwhelming and humbling experience, one which I won’t hesitate to do again” - Kristyn Rohm, SRC member.

“This experience touched my heart” – Ujama Swart, Hostel Prim.

“I realize now how privileged I am” – PC Beyers, SRC member.
