It’s December or even January, and you haven’t heard back from the university you applied at. What’s your next step? Better yet, what other options are available than going to a public university?

Did you know that applying to study at a public university is not your only option to choose from? Don’t wait too long before registering though as classes are filling up!

It’s not too late to apply with Prestige Academy, where we aspire to something higher. We have different options and programmes available for you to choose from!

So, what is the difference between a public and private tertiary education institution? First off, it is worth mentioning, that Prestige Academy’s courses are at the same level as that of a Degree, Diploma or Certificate at a Public University.

Our classes are smaller, which means that you are not just a number in class, but you receive personal attention from your lecturer. Your lecturer will identify your strengths and weaknesses and will build on these so that you can become the best student that you can be.

We are also more like a family than anything else.

It is always good to do your research on an institution before applying. You have to make sure that the qualifications that are offered are on the same NQF and accreditation levels like that of a Public University –  as registered with the South African Qualifications Authority.

Don’t underestimate the value and quality of education that you will receive at Prestige Academy. Prestige Academy is a credible institution that offers some of the most popular industry needed qualifications.

Prestige Academy also offers a dynamic student life, so make sure that you apply as soon as possible since there is much that will happen – from day one!

If you applied to study towards a degree qualification but you don’t meet the admission requirements, or you have only been provisionally accepted, you don’t need to worry. You can climb the academic ladder by first applying for a Higher Certificate, Advanced Certificate or a Diploma qualification. Also, a side-note – a Degree Qualification will always carry more theoretical depth, whereas a Diploma or Certificate has more practical application.

Prestige Academy’s curriculum is also unique and each programme is tailor-made to specific requirements and outcomes. Here you will receive instructor-led contact lecturing, practical, theory, assignments, tests, exams, etc. which will not be the same as another institution offering a qualification with a similar name. Some modules may be similar, but no entire programme will ever be the same.

Prestige Academy is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution with the Department of Higher Education and Training in South Africa under the Higher Education Act 1997 Registration Nr. 2001/HE07/005. Prestige Academy (Pty) Ltd. Is registered under the Companies Act, 1973 (Act 61 of 1973), with Registration Nr. 2002/014082/07. All programmes are accredited with SAQA and aligned with the NQF as mentioned above.

Upon accreditation, every qualification receives a SAQA ID Number. Should any programme offered by a university or private institution not appear on the SAQA website and have an ID Number, it means it is not legitimate. Another quality check for legitimacy is a certificate that lists all qualifications a particular institution is allowed to offer – this certificate is issued annually and must be displayed at the entrance of the provider for any member of the public to see.

All higher education institutions, both public universities and private tertiary education institutions like Prestige Academy, have to be compliant with the same accreditation requirements and all programmes are evaluated against the HEQSF (Higher Education Qualification Sub-framework) in the same manner (by a panel of independent academics) upon which accreditation is awarded, or not.  Prestige Academy’s qualifications are quality assured exactly the same as those at universities.

It is a SAQA requirement that all tertiary applicants must give evidence of international comparability of a qualification submitted for accreditation and registration. This is to ensure that qualifications offered by higher education institutions in South Africa are of equal standard compare to those in other countries.

Prestige Academy is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a private provider and all programmes we offer are accredited by the Council on Higher Education, therefore our qualifications are recognised overseas. Should any Prestige Academy graduate want to go and work overseas, the qualifications will be recognised.

Our late registration dates are between 1 December 2018 until 25 January 2019, whereafter registration closes. Don’t wait too long as a late registration fee will apply. If you enrol after 15 January 2018, and you want to pay in full, you will, unfortunately, miss out on the early enrolment discount.

Since our classes are smaller, we can accommodate only a certain amount of students per year, so download your application form from our website today!
