The Desktop Publishing and Computer Art Higher Certificate (also referred to as Graphic Design) teaches students how to make use of layout concepts, typography and graphic printing knowledge for the creation of creative documents. The main focus is on desktop publishing for the digital industry as each student will produce a wide variety of artworks from logos to magazine layouts. Not only will students be coached on topics such as procedures and processes for desktop publishing, but they will also learn about concepts, principles and guidelines to successful design.
During this course students will have to combine the latest software to create documents on a personal computer with their concepts and ideas for either large scale publishing or small scale distribution. At the same time each student will also be equipped with skills which they can apply to electronic media. Job descriptions require practical and creative skills using graphical user interface software.
