The Higher Certificate in Desktop Publishing & Computer Art (also referred to as Graphic Design) teaches students how to practically apply layout concepts, typography and graphic printing for the creation of creative documents.
The main focus is on desktop publishing for the digital industry. You will produce a wide variety of artwork from logos to magazine layouts. Not only will you be taught on topics such as procedures and processes for desktop publishing, but you will also learn about concepts, principles and guidelines to successful application of design. You will have to combine the latest software to format and combine text, data, photographs with their concepts and ideas for either large scale publishing or small scale distribution. Job descriptions require practical and creative skills using graphical user interface.
ARTICULATION OPTIONS: After completing the Higher Certificate in Desktop Publishing & Computer Art or the Higher Certificate in Photography, the student may articulate to the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts in Visual Communication Design or Bachelor of Applied Arts in 3D Animation.
