Dear Students and Parents
URGENT COMMUNICATION REGARDING OPERATIONAL/ACADEMIC ACTION PLANS
After hours of deliberation this morning, the Board of Directors have decided on the following measurements regarding operational/academic matters and have outlined the critical protocols that we have put in place to ensure the appropriate response to the COVID-19 global pandemic:
- We have taken the decision to postpone the current test series for the remainder of the week.
- There will be no tests or classes from tomorrow, Tuesday, 17 March 2020.
- These tests will be re-scheduled in the 2nd term upon commencement of classes on 14 April 2020. Due to the above, tests will take place on scheduled dates and times and will include Saturdays as well.
Current Prestige Academy Holidays
Although the Prestige Academy holidays was originally scheduled from 23 March until 30 March 2020, the students will only return on 14 April 2020. Although operations and teaching and learning will come under strain at this time, Prestige Academy has put contingency measures in place, for example providing online lectures via You-Tube and other platforms as far as possible from 31 March until 13 April 2020 (excluding weekends and public holidays). Detailed communication will be sent to students to discuss the above operations and what is expected of the student during this time.
It is the students’ responsibility to attend the online lectures and hand-in assignments electronically on due dates, etc. The online lectures are not live to stream and the student can access it in his or her own time. Communication will take place via emails and Moodle. Students must ensure that the Academy has your latest contact details. Prestige Academy will not be held responsible if important communication cannot reach you, due to incorrect contact details.
Foreign students from countries i.e. Namibia, Botswana, Congo, Angola, etc. should return to their countries with immediate effect.
All enquiries must please be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
No student will be allowed to stay in the hostel during the period 23 March – 12 April 2020. Students must return to the hostel between 12-14 April 2020. (Classes commence on 14 April 2020) You are NOT required to vacate the hostel and may, therefore, leave your belongings at the hostel.
During the holidays, we would like to urge you to take the appropriate social distancing protocols very seriously. These include limiting social interaction, keeping an appropriate distance from other people (approximately 1.5 meters at all times), not shaking hands or hugging (using an elbow greeting), regular hand-washing (with soap or hand sanitiser for at least 20 seconds), immediate consultation with health services in the event that you develop a fever or cough, and appropriate self-isolation If you fall ill.
I urge everyone to remain calm, to follow the advice provided in public health announcements, and to utilise the necessary information channels available to all South Africans. Together we can get through this period as a higher education and training community.
We thank you for your cooperation.
